Kostadinovska-Stojchevska: Open Balkan unites, resonates strongly through culture and concert performance with maestro Mehta

Skopje, 25 June 2023 (MIA) - Saturday's concert performance of the Belgrade Philharmonic led by maestro Zubin Mehta marked the end of the regional concert tour to celebrate the Belgrade Philharmonic's centenary. As part of the Open Balkan initiative, the regional tour included performances in Belgrade, Tirana and Skopje, fostering stronger cultural ties between the three nations. 

 

 

Describing the tour as a success, the Ministry of Culture said that it proved to be an extraordinary demonstration of the power of culture and creativity and its unique ability to bring people together in a spirit of mutual understanding and respect.

 

 

Culture Minister Bisera Kostadinovska-Stojchevska expressed satisfaction with the successful concert performances, highlighting their role in further strengthening cultural ties within the Open Balkan initiative. She pointed out that such events serve as a strong incentive for the affirmation of local values ​​in the European context.

 

"Our unity in diversity is the message that guides us through the European integration processes. Thus united, we are an even greater force for the affirmation of local values ​​towards Europe," Minister Kostadinovska-Stojchevska said on Saturday. 

 

She mentioned the upcoming joint exhibition in Paris, an event that further highlight the Open Balkan commitment to sharing and promoting the unique cultural heritage within European frameworks. 

 

 

The Ministry of Culture notes that the successful completion of this series of concert performances bodes well for the future of cultural exchange and cooperation within the Open Balkan and further strengthens European aspirations. 

 

Open Balkan is an initiative focused on strengthening regional cooperation and fostering cultural, economic and political ties between North Macedonia, Serbia and Albania. Its core principle is to promote unity in diversity, championing the distinct cultural heritage of each nation while advocating for common progress and integration in Europe.
