Kostadinovska-Stojchevska: Ministry of Culture budget reduced compared to 2022, Commission acted appropriately in allocating funds

Skopje, 15 February 2023 (MIA) – The budget of the Ministry of Culture has been reduced compared to 2022. The total budget allocated for financing projects of national interest in 2023 makes up 20 percent of the entire budget, said Minister of Culture Bisera Kostadinovska-Stojchevska on Wednesday.

However, the Minister said, the Commission acted appropriately in terms of allocating funds in support of projects, in line with the available budget.

“We will never have enough funds for culture, even if we use our entire budget for these projects it will still not be enough. I understand this, but I believe that the Commission acted appropriately in terms of allocating funds in support of projects, in line with the available budget,” said Kostadinovska-Stojchevska.

The Minister added that the budget of the Culture Ministry in 2022 was 4.6 billion denars, while in 2023 it stands at 3.7 billion denars.

“In line with this budget, and according to our duties to the national institutions, 12.6 million euro have been allocated for the programs, 21.3 percent of the budget for the national institutions and the rest for the department of the Ministry of Culture,” said Kostadinovska-Stojchevska. ad/nn/
