Kosovo healthcare workers: “Respond to us by 4 pm – at 5 pm our German class starts
Prishtina, 25 May 2022 (MIA) — Kosovo healthcare workers from the front lines of the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic protested in front of the Kosovo Ministry of Health, demanding the three monthly salaries the state has not paid them yet, MIA’s Prishtina correspondent reports. Expressing outrage at the authorities' unfair treatment of healthcare workers, protesters said they would leave Kosovo like many of their colleagues before them. "Mr. Minister, respond to us by 4 pm – our German language class begins at 5 pm” read one of the banners at the protest. Other messages sent to the Kosovo health authorities were: "You are all proud of dealing with the pandemic, but the credit is ours," "The heroes of the pandemic forgotten by the Government of Kosovo," "I risked my life and my family for you and your family, and this is how you pay me back.” Healthcare workers at the rally said they would protest until the Ministry of Health met their demands. mr/
