Kichevo patient tested for monkeypox before being put in isolation: doctor
Skopje, 12 August 2022 (MIA) - The Kichevo patient, who has been suspected of being infected with the monkeypox, is isolating after being tested for the disease, Zlate Mehmedovikj, spokesman of the Commission for Infectious Diseases, confirmed to MIA.
"The Kichevo patient was contacted before being tested by the Bitola Public Health Center. He has been put in isolation. We expect to get the results by 8 pm," he added.
The patient was the first one in the country suspected of being infected with the infectious disease, but he kept refusing to be tested until now.
Speaking to reporters about the case, doctor Aleksandar Petlichkovski, Head of the Commission for Infectious Diseases, said there was no legal provision under which the patient could be ordered to get tested, because mandatory isolation is not ordered for the monkeypox, it can be only recommended.
