Kichevo Mayor requests start of 2021-22 school year be postponed
Kichevo, 31 August 2021 (MIA) — Following closely the surge in new Covid-19 cases in the Kichevo region, the Kichevo Crisis Headquarters headed by Kichevo Mayor Fatmir Dehari has requested the Infectious Diseases Commission postpone the start of the 2021-22 school year or introduce online instruction for Kichevo schools.
According to MIA's Kichevo correspondent, the crisis headquarters held a meeting to review requests from parents' councils of local elementary and high schools.
“After reviewing their requests, we decided to address the Commission for Infectious Diseases with a request to postpone the beginning of the new school year or introduce distance learning,” Mayor Dehari wrote on Facebook.
Dehari said the request would hopefully be accepted soon to contain the spread of the virus among Kichevo residents.
Previously, at a request by Tetovo Mayor Teuta Arifi, the Infectious Diseases Commission granted permission to Tetovo and Gostivar high schools to hold online classes during the first two weeks of the 2021-22 school year due to the spike in new Covid-19 cases there. mr/
