Kemet Electronics opens second factory in Free Zone Skopje 1, creates new 360 jobs
Skopje, 17 October 2022 (MIA) - Kemet Electronics, the North Macedonia-based subsidiary of US electronic components maker Kemet Corporation, invested €25 million in expanding the capacity of its factory in Free Zone Skopje 1 thus creating new 360 jobs. “The company's decision to expand production here affirm the government economic policies and the strategies for increasing the wages of employees,” Prime Minister Dimitar Kovachevski said at the opening ceremony. He voiced hopes that Kemet Electronics is to open soon a third factory thus promising that the government will do everything in its power such a facility to open. Andreas Meier, Senior Vice President of Kemet Electronics, underlined that capacitors for electric vehicles will be produced in the new facility. One production line has already been put into operation, and two more production lines will be opened soon, he said. By the opening of the new facility, the capacity of the existing factory has been increased by 50%, and as Meier announced, Kemet Electronics plans to expand its capacity in Free Zone Skopje 1. Free Zones Authority CEO Jovan Despotovski said that the new factory will double the number of employees in Kemet Electronics and added that nearly 1,600 new employees have been employed at Free Zones since the beginning of the year. He noted that the salaries of employees in Free Zones have already been increased twice this year, adding that they will continue to demand the salaries of employees in the free economic zone to increase. The Kemet Corporation, which includes Kemet Electronics, has an annual revenue of 4.8 billion dollars in 49 factories, 47 sales offices and 20 development offices in North and South America, Asia and Europe, employing 45,000 workers. It manufactures electronic components for the world's most famous companies. Kemet Electronics opened its factory in Skopje in October 2012.
