Justice Minister Filkov meets OSCE Ambassador Wahl

Skopje, 10 July 2024 (MIA) - Justice Minister Igor Filkov held a meeting Wednesday with Ambassador Kilian Wahl, Head of the OSCE Mission to Skopje, during which they spoke discussed OSCE’s ongoing projects with the Ministry of Justice, current developments related to judicial reform and the legislative agenda.
According to a press release by the Ministry of Justice, Minister Filkov expressed gratitude over the excellent and intensive cooperation with the OSCE Mission to Skopje in the field of the judiciary, especially the process of the drafting of the new Criminal Code and the new Law on Criminal Procedure.
“It is exceptionally important that the OSCE Mission to Skopje has made it possible for the new Criminal Code to be translated into English, and the same will be done with the draft Law on Criminal Procedure so that they are assessed by the European Commission. The OSCE Mission to Skopje was actively involved in the drafting of the 2024-2028 Judicial Sector Development Strategy, as well as in the working groups tasked with drafting the amendments on the Judicial Council and the public prosecution. A public debate is planned to be held for all the laws mentioned, so that the public can be familiarized with the proposed solutions,” the Ministry said in the press release.
The meeting also focused on activities to be taken by the Ministry of Justice in the coming period, as well as future plans aimed at strengthening the rule of law in the country.
