Ohrid, 6 December 2024 (MIA) – The Judicial Media Council is taking part at the regional conference in Ohrid on promoting trust and authority in the judiciary through greater independence and transparency, organised by the Association of Judges.

Members of Judicial Media Council, including the journalists Elena Ivanovska Mukoska (Telma TV), Aleksandar Atanasov (MIA) and Zoran Janevski (Sitel TV), shared details of past projects and explored opportunities for future cooperation. They underscored the importance of the guidebook for recording and photographing in the courtrooms, training sessions for journalists and judges, advisory opinions on enhancing transparency and restricting public access to courtrooms, and experiences from study visits to courts and prosecutor’s offices in Boston and Seattle.

Zharko Aleksov from the Center for Legal Research and Analysis presented an analysis regarding the establishment and work of the Judicial Media Council, focusing on enhancing cooperation between judges and journalists.

The Judicial Media Council consists of 15 members, including eight journalists and seven judges.

Judges from across the country and the region, along with professors, legal experts, and NGO representatives, took part in the 8th regional conference over the past two days, titled “Promoting Trust and Authority in the Judiciary through Greater Independence and Transparency.”

The event, held in Ohrid, was organised by the Association of Judges in partnership with the US Embassy and the CEELI Institute in Prague.
