Skopje, 2 December 2024 (MIA) - At an emergency session Monday, the Judicial Council verified the resignation of its head, Vesna Dameva, who stepped down earlier in the day citing the Government’s lack of interest in ensuring swift and efficient justice, as well as efforts by top government officials to ruin her integrity.
The election of a new President of the Judicial Council was listed on the proposed agenda for the session, but the members of the council voted unanimously for it to be withdrawn upon the proposal of council member Isamedin Limani. According to Limani, the Council should elect a new president once it is fully staffed and all members are present.
“Two members with a right to vote are absent, and we are also in the stage of electing two new members to the Council on December 11,” Limani said.
The members concluded that the Council will be able to continue its work without a president until it is fully staffed.
