Skopje, 28 June 2023 (MIA) – The Judicial Council said Wednesday it had received a notice from the Austrian Ambassador and will investigate the assertions made in it.
“Based on the contents of the received document, at a working meeting the members of the Council concluded that a large part of the assertions are related to dissatisfaction with the actions of the Public Prosecutor’s Office. One section of the documents also mentions a trade dispute led in the Basic Court in Gevgelija. In the contents of the document, the Ambassador voiced suspicions that the dispute is being led under external influence,” said the Council.
The Council added that at the working meeting the members decided for the coordinators of the Basic Court in Gevgelija and the Appellate Court in Skopje to examine the case, the actions taken by the courts and the decisions made.
“After the investigation, the Judicial Council will draft a report and act accordingly in order to monitor the case, while being careful not to influence the court’s decisions,” said the Council.
In an open letter on Tuesday, the Austrian Embassy to North Macedonia criticized the Macedonian judiciary because an Austrian company was prevented from receiving compensation from a company in the country.
