January – February 2023 external trade at EUR 1.3 billion

Skopje, 7 April 2023 (MIA) – The total value of exported goods from North Macedonia in the January – February 2023 period amounted to EUR 1.339.941.000, a 10.2 percent increase compared to the same period last year. While the value of imported goods in the same period was EUR 1.763.707.000, or 1.5 percent less than the same period last year, said the State Statistical Office in a press release Friday.

According to the State Statistical Office, the trade deficit in the January – February 2023 period was EUR 423.768.000.

External trade by products shows that in exports the most significant products are supported catalysts with precious metal or precious metal compounds as the active substance, ignition wiring sets and other wiring sets of a kind used in vehicles, aircraft or ships, electricity and flat-rolled products of iron or non-alloy steel, not clad, plated or coated.

The Office said the most significant products in imports are petroleum oils and oils obtained from bituminous minerals (other than crude), other metals of the platinum group and alloys thereof, unwrought or in powder form, platinum and platinum alloys, unwrought or in powder form and colloidal precious metals; compounds, inorganic or organic, of precious metals, whether chemically defined or not; amalgams of precious metals.

According to the press release, in the January – February 2023 period, based on the total external trade volume, the most important trade partners of the Republic of North Macedonia were Germany, Great Britain, Greece, Serbia and Bulgaria.
