Janchev: Wildfires have caused no property damage

Kavadarci, 19 July 2024 (MIA) — Mostly bushes, dry grass, and junipers burned in the wildfires across the country, which have caused no property damage in local towns, according to Kavadarci Mayor Mitko Janchev, who heads the newly formed regional crisis headquarters for fighting fires.


"At the initiative of Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski, to respond to the regional fires, we have recently formed our regional crisis headquarters," Janchev said in a social media post, adding that he had been coordinating with Interior Minister Panche Toshkovski, Defense Minister Vlado Misajlovski, mayors of neighboring municipalities as well as firefighters, army members, police and volunteers to put out the fires near Radovish and Negotino and localize fires in the Shtip villages of Puhche and Selce.

 

 

Janchev said the wildfires at the Gradsko village of Podles, at Rosoman near Sirkovo, Mrzen and Farish, at Chashka near Gorno and Dolno Jabolchishte and on Lisec mountain had been brought under control and were expected to be completely extinguished on Saturday.

 

 

Janchev also thanked all participants in the firefighting efforts, including pilots from neighboring countries. mr/
