Skopje, 5 April 2023 (MIA) - State Commission for the Prevention of Corruption head, Biljana Ivanovska, said Wednesday that the anti-corruption commission has already received part of the necessary documentation for the case opened regarding the project on Corridors 8 and 10d, and the rest of the documentation is expected. 

Ivanovska noted that particular importance will be attached to the case in order to bring the truth to light.  

"We have a case opened, we are in the process of collecting all necessary documents. Some of them we have received, and we're expecting the rest. Due to the specificity of the case, a team of advisers and members of the anti-corruption commission will be on it, so we will give it particular importance and attention in order to bring the truth to light and we will announce the results at a public meeting," Ivanovska said in response to a reporter's question at the annual conference on the 2021–2025 National Strategy for the Prevention of Corruption and Conflict of Interest implementation.

In addition to the anti-corruption commission, the Public Prosecutor's Office for organized crime and corruption will look into media reports related to the construction of the motorways along Corridors 8 and 10d, followed by a decision by a competent public prosecutor depending on the outcome..

Prime Minister Dimitar Kovachevski also urged the Prosecutor's office and the anti-corruption commission to carry out the procedure related to all available information. 

An event launching the construction works on Corridor 8 motorway section Tetovo-Gostivar was held on Tuesday. U.S.-Turkish consortium "Bechtel-Enka" is set to build the 17.5km-long Tetovo-Gostivar motorway, which is expected to cost EUR 125 million. The other three sections encompassed with the EUR 1.3 billion contract are Gostivar-Bukojchani, Trebenishte-Struga-Kjafasan and Prilep-Bitola.
