Tel Aviv, 8 October 2023 (dpa/MIA) - Israel has come under fire from Lebanon, a military spokesman said early on Sunday, a day after a massive surprise attack launched by the Palestinian extremist organization Hamas from the Gaza Strip.

Artillery from the Israel Defence Forces (IDF) would target the area in Lebanon from which Israeli territory had been fired upon, IDF spokesman Daniel Hagari wrote on the platform X, formerly Twitter.

He said the Israeli army was prepared for all scenarios and would continue to protect the safety of Israel's residents.

Meanwhile, the Israeli military continued its massive retaliatory airstrikes on Gaza. So far, hundreds of people have been killed on both sides.
