Washington, 7 October 2023 (dpa/MIA) - US President Joe Biden has promised Israel his country's support following the large-scale attacks by the Palestinian extremist organization Hamas.

"Israel has a right to defend itself and its people," Biden said in a statement on Saturday.

"The United States warns against any other party hostile to Israel seeking advantage in this situation," the US president added.

"My administration's support for Israel's security is rock solid and unwavering."

Biden spoke to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu earlier on Saturday and would be remaining in close contact with him, according to the White House.
