Budapest, 23 July 2024 (dpa/MIA) - Eduard Iordanescu will nnot renew his contract as Romania national team coach and step down after two years, the Romanian FA said on Monday.

Iordanescu, the son of former national team coach Anghel Iordanescu, took the job in early 2022 and led the team to Euro 2024 where they went out in the last 16 against the Netherlands.

He said on Facebook he considered his mission completed and would not renew his contract which runs until July 31.

Iordanescu said on Facebook he wanted to spend more time with his family, and stressed that despite receiving various offers has held no talks at all about any kind of future engagement.
