Investigative center within Skopje Public Prosecutor’s Office begins work, procurement of equipment underway
Skopje, 5 October 2022 (MIA) – The investigative center at the Skopje Public Prosecutor's Office is slowly starting to operate. The unit has investigators and the procurement of necessary equipment for forensics and financial investigations is underway. A major part of the unit has already been put into operation and it is expected by the end of the year that the investigative center will be 80 percent functional.
The work of the investigative center mostly includes investigations of economic and financial crimes, which are carried out independently by the investigators and prosecutors on the cases, and if assistance is needed, support is also sought from the Ministry of the Interior and the Financial Police Office, said Wednesday’s press briefing at the Skopje Public Prosecutor's Office.
“Solid space and premises are provided. Communication between the investigators and the prosecutors has increased and this can already be seen in certain cases, including the case on the Zhan Mitrev Hospital, where the investigators from the Skopje Public Prosecutor's Office are entirely in charge,” said the Public Prosecutor’s Office.
In the coming months, according to the briefing, the plan is to bring in investigators, i.e. experts in the field of financial and computer crime and forensics.
