Amsterdam, 17 March 2023 (dpa/MIA) - Judges at the International Criminal Court in The Hague issued an arrest warrant for Russian President Vladimir Putin on war crime allegations.
The court said the warrant was issued over Putin's suspected involvement in the unlawful deportation and transfer of children from occupied areas of Ukraine to the Russian Federation.
"There are reasonable grounds to believe that Mr Putin bears individual criminal responsibility for the aforementioned crimes," the court said in a statement on Friday.
The court simultaneously said it had issued an arrest warrant for Maria Alekseyevna Lvova-Belova, the commissioner for Children's Rights in the Office of the President of the Russian Federation, citing the same allegations.
