Interior Ministry marks Day of the Department for the Protection of Certain Persons and Facilities

Skopje, 19 February 2024 (MIA) – At an event Monday, the Ministry of Interior marked February 18  – the day on which the Department for the Protection of Certain Persons and Facilities was established at the Ministry 79 years ago.

The chief of the Department, Aleksandar Nacevski, noted that the Department had been reorganized on several occasions, ensuring that it confidently faces all challenges with several divisions and specific competencies.

Nacevski stressed that the Department especially demonstrated its commitment and professionalism in 2023, when, he said, it undertook activities and measures providing security to more than 309 foreign delegations visiting the country, pointing to the OSCE Ministerial Summit in Skopje as an example.

At the event, Interior Minister Panche Toshkovski said the eight decades of the Department’s existence point to its rich professional portfolio, its establishment, growth and development, as well as the successes of all officers who have been a part of the Department.

“This is a specific, complex and representative police security service in whose further professional and material-technical development the Ministry is obliged to invest in,” said Toshkovski, adding that the Department and its employees should continue to create and build professional standards and values that will lead to quality results.

The additional Deputy Minister of Interior, Mitrko Bojmacaliev, said the members of the Department are synonymous with professionalism, loyalty and honesty in their service to the Ministry and their country, demonstrating their professionalism in the name of the common good on several occasions over the past eight decades.
