Interest in vaccination rises, nearly 19,000 citizens vaccinated on Monday
Skopje, 17 August 2021 (MIA) — North Macedonia registered on Monday increased interest in vaccination, the Ministry of Health said in a press release on Tuesday, adding that the immunization process is going well nationwide. A total of 599,716 citizens have received at least one COVID-19 vaccine dose in the country so far and 479,333 have been fully vaccinated. A total of 1,079,049 vaccine doses have been administered in North Macedonia to date, the press release read. On Monday, 18,877 citizens were vaccinated against COVID-19 nationwide, including 12,049 who received their first vaccine dose, the release added. The Ministry of Health’s latest figures show that 68 percent of the population over 70; 65 percent of the population over 65; 6q percent of the population over 60; and 51 percent of the population over 50 have received at least one vaccine dose. The Ministry reiterated that walk-in vaccinations are available at vaccination sites nationwide. Medical teams are also vaccinating people across the country, visiting towns and village, while parents of children over 12 can get their children’s vaccination appointments at vakcinacija.mk. The Health Ministry underlined that vaccines are safe and efficient, adding that they are the only way to defeat the pandemic. Full vaccination prevents serious symptoms, as well as lowers the chances of getting infected and dying from COVID-19, the press release read.
