Initial documentation on Skopje film studio project to be forwarded to gov't: minister
Skopje, 5 October 2022 (MIA) - The Ministry of Transport and Communications has initially studied documents involving a project on the construction of film studios in the Skopje Municipality of Karposh and is set to inform the government about it by the end of the day or tomorrow at the latest.
There will be also coordination with the municipality to establish a clear picture on the state of play on the ground surrounding eventual permissions, Transport Minister Blagoj Bochavrski said Wednesday.
"We will go over all the documents and present arguments before the government's Economic System Commission before the government is expected to take a position on the project announced by the American film star John Malkovich," he stated.
Several companies had sent a project request, which was later forwarded to the Transport Ministry, he said, which formed an operations group and a commission to study the documents.
Speaking to reporters in the town of Probishtip, Bochvarski refrained from commenting on when the project might be implemented before a clear picture from the ground is established.
"The investors have proposed certain micro locations in their project, but a detailed urbanistic plan is in force in that micro location, which is why we have to review the whole procedure with the Municipality of Karposh in case a private land is registered there. All arguments will be discussed at a session of the government commission, chaired by Deputy PM Bytyqi. I believe the government will unveil its position right after," the Minister stated.
In August, American actor John Malkovich announced his plans to build film studios near Skopje as part of the Skopje Technology Park project.
