Inconsiderate parent sent child with Covid-19 to school, now 14 children in isolation, Shtip principal says
Shtip, 9 September 2021 (MIA) — The irresponsibility of one parent who sent a child with Covid-19 to school has put an entire class in isolation, with three infections confirmed so far, Metodi Paparov, the principal of Shtip’s largest elementary, told MIA’s Shtip correspondent on Thursday.
Fourteen students from Vancho Prke Elementary had to be sent home to quarantine after a child whose sibling was infected with Covid-19 in a Novo Selo school continued going to in-person classes.
“[The student with Covid-19 who first] was in isolation went to the Novo Selo school but his sister attended classes in the central school, so we had to take all the necessary steps during the holiday for her classmates to move to online instruction as of today,” Paparov said.
The school principal added that the entire class had to be sent into isolation because they all used the gym, although they followed health protocols in the classroom, where each student sat at a separate desk.
He called on parents to act responsibly if any of their family members showed symptoms of the virus and keep their children at home until epidemiologists determine what steps should be taken next.
As of today, 73 elementary, middle, and high school students in Shtip are in isolation. Eight students have tested positive for Covid-19 since Sept. 1, when the school year started, along with three teachers. mr/
