In February, 12,556 employees unpaid; in March, almost 32,000

Skopje, 28 April 2023 (MIA) — As of yet, 12,556 workers have not gotten their February paycheck, and 31,975 people have not gotten get their March paycheck, Public Revenue Office head Sanja Lukarevska told a press conference Friday.

 


“In February 2023, 69,059 employers were responsible for 554,237 employees. Of them, 61,520 paid what they needed to, and 2,403 did not, for 4,991 employees, and 5,136 employers did not submit February wages calculations at all for February. In March, 69,156 employers were responsible for 555, 161 employees, of whom, 56,073 employers paid 523,186 employees, and 7,367 employers submitted their calculations for 20,363 employees, but did not pay them out, and 5,176 employers have yet to submit calculations for the previous month,” Lukarevska said.

 


According to the Public Revenue Office, the percentage of paid wages from companies that submitted their calculations for February 2023 (67%) is the same as February 2022, and in March 2023 it had increased by 3%, jumping from 68% in March 2022 to 71% in March 2023.

 


Salaries are paid out by the 10th of the ongoing month for the previous month, and the deadline is the 15th of the month. The companies that fail to honor deadlines are warned, and then they have their accounts blocked.

 


The PRO has conducted 1,522 controls since the start of the year, up until April 25. Irregularities were determined in 702 subjects, most often failure to issue receipts.

 


Thirty-three taxpayers that make jewelry in Skopje, Tetovo, Gostivar, Kichevo and Bitola were inspected, two of which were closed and 18 were found out to not give receipts, and some failed to register their profits.

 


Receipt controls were conducted in public healthcare facilities, including all polyclinics in Skopje, out of which four were found out to not give receipts. 

 


Nineteen clinics within the Mother Teresa Clinical Center were inspected as well. Irregularities were found in four of them, mainly due to not issuing receipts and one for not logging records. 

 


Irregularities were also found during inspections of public healthcare facilities in Kichevo and Tetovo and multiple private healthcare providers in Gostivar. dk/mr
