IGC on June 23 a possibility, Croatian FM tells MIA
Ohrid, 17 June 2022 (MIA) - According to announcements, it is possible that an Intergovernmental Conference (IGC) between North Macedonia and EU could take place on June 23, which would represent a positive step forward, followed by alignment and agreement between North Macedonia and Bulgaria with the support of EU, Croatian Foreign Minister Gordan Grlic Radman has told MIA. FM Grlic Radman says all conditions have been met and they expect Bulgaria’s readiness for a mutual solution.“All aspects that might open later could be resolved in parallel. I believe it is very important to launch the accession negotiations now, in order to send an important message to the countries of the Western Balkans, which is that the EU is prepared to get involved because the Western Balkans is part of the European area and is an important geopolitical and geostrategic area,” says Grlic Radman. Accordi g to him, the French EU Presidency wants to show that France is the leading EU country. “French President Emmanuel Macron said during a visit to Croatia last year that the Western Balkans summit is very important for him, and France has strongly supported the opening of negotiations with North Macedonia and Albania, because this is in the interest of security of the European Union,” says Grlic Radman.
