Skopje, 20 December 2021 (MIA) – Hungary will use its right to veto if the EU proposes sanctions against the member of the Bosnia and Herzegovina presidency, Milorad Dodik, Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó has announced. “If sanctions are in the works against Dodik, we will veto them because we think that to introduce sanctions against the Western Balkans is not the right step,” he told a news conference in Skopje. Those threatening sanctions against the leaders of the Serbs in BiH, according to him, should better sit down with him for talks before proposing any sanctions. “The ones threatening sanctions should better go to Banja Luka or Sarajevo and to talk with the people affected,” Szijjártó said. Last week, the German government called on the European Union to introduce sanctions against Milorad Dodik saying his secession attempts to separate Republika Srpska from the armed forces of BiH, the judiciary and the tax system  are unacceptable for Germany.
