Houthi official says no casualties in latest US strike in Yemen

Cairo, 13 January 2024 (dpa/MIA) - The latest US strike against a Houthi facility in Yemen has caused no casualties or material damage, an official from the Iran-allied group said on Saturday.

"No material or human losses from the strike," Nasreddin Amer, the deputy head of the Houthi media organization, told Qatari TV Al Jazeera.

"The Americans will bear the consequences of this aggression. The response will come at the earliest possible time," he added.

The strike early Saturday targeted a Houthi radar site and was a "follow-on action on a specific military target" associated with strikes unleashed the day before designed to degrade the rebels' ability to attack vessels, the US army said.

The pro-Houthi broadcaster al-Masirah reported that the strike had targeted the al-Dilmi airbase in the rebel-controlled capital Sana'a.

Amer said the airbase was already out of operation.
