Skopje, 4 June 2022 (MIA) — High school seniors across the country took earlier on Saturday their Native Language and Literature examination, the first external exam of the two needed to obtain a state high school graduation diploma.
According to the State Examination Center, 11,060 high school seniors in the 2021-22 school year applied to take the Macedonian language exam; 4,308 applied for the Albanian language exam, and 313 applied for the Turkish language exam.
Speaking to high school seniors ahead of the exam at Skopje’s Panche Karagjozov Medical High School, Minister of Education and Science Jeton Shaqiri wished them success and noted that the classes they had missed during the 12 working days’ teachers strike in April would not impact their results. “There will be no questions from the material that was to be taught in that period,” Shaqiri said.
The education minister added that the next external exam was scheduled for June 13 and the results would be announced on July 12.
As their second exam, most students have opted to take an English language test (14,320 candidates); 1,231 high school seniors will take a Mathematics exam; 118 will take German; 30 will take French; 10 will take Russian; 15 will take Philosophy; and 100 will take an Aesthetics exam.
This year, 15,899 high school seniors have applied for the state graduation exam, which is required for university enrollment. mr/
