Hezbollah claims responsibility for targeting Netanyahu's residence

Beirut, 22 October 2024 (dpa/MIA) - The pro-Iranian Hezbollah movement claimed responsibility on Tuesday for a drone attack that targeted Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's residence on Saturday.

Israeli media reported that on Saturday a drone hit and damaged the bedroom window of Netanyahu's residence in Caesarea. Netanyahu and his wife were not there at the time. According to the Israeli army, no one was injured in the attack.

Hezbollah admitted "targeting of the home of the war criminal and leader of Zionist fascism," said Mohammed Afifi, head of Hezbollah's press office, during a press conference on Tuesday.

During the press conference, the Israeli military issued an evacuation call for a building just a few hundred metres away and then attacked the targeted building.

The Hezbollah official also lashed out at German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock over her recent statements regarding the war in Lebanon, saying she was "justifying the killing of civilians by the Zionist enemy."

Afifi said that there would be no negotiations with Israel "under fire."
