Help for Ukraine again on the agenda at fresh Ramstein meeting
- Ukraine's allies and President Volodomyr Zelensky will meet at the US military's Ramstein Air Base in Germany on Thursday to discuss continuing support for Kiev in the war with Russia.
Berlin, 9 January 2025 (dpa/MIA) - Ukraine's allies and President Volodomyr Zelensky will meet at the US military's Ramstein Air Base in Germany on Thursday to discuss continuing support for Kiev in the war with Russia.
Ramstein is the largest air base outside the United States and has hosted similar meetings since Russia attacked Ukraine nearly three years ago.
US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin has invited defence ministers and senior military leaders from member countries of the Ukraine Contact Group to the conference.
As at previous meetings in Ramstein, representatives from non-NATO countries are also expected.
Russia has been waging war of conquest on neighbouring Ukraine since February 24, 2022. The West is supporting Kiev in its defence.
Ukrainian officials fear that US support for Ukraine could drop off once US President-elect Donald Trump takes office on January 20.
