Health Ministry: 196 new Covid cases registered last week
Skopje, 7 November 2022 (MIA) – The Ministry of Health, citing data from the Institute of Public Health, said Monday that this past week, 196 new Covid-19 cases were registered out of a total of 3.281 performed tests, a drop of 14.8 percent compared to the week before. No deaths were reported last week, while a total of eight deaths were reported from September 14 to October 21. A total of 221 recoveries were registered last week. Of the 196 newly infected, 127 are from Skopje, Prilep - 21, Ohrid - 10, Bitola - 8, Shtip - 5, Kavadarci and Koцхani - 4 each, Negotino - 3, Kumanovo, Strumica and Kichevo - 2 each, Tetovo, Veles, Gostivar , Struga, Gevgelija, Radovish, Debar and Makedonski Brod - 1 each. The percentage of positivity ranges from 1.5 percent to 8.2 percent, the average percent positivity is 5.7 percent. Out of the total number of positive cases registered last week (196), 50 reinfections have been recorded, which is a 9.1 percent reduction compared to the previous week (55). “Positive cases were registered in all age groups, with the majority of cases reported in the +60 age group (100 cases, 51%). Compared to the previous week, a decline in positive cases can be noted in all age groups,” said the Ministry of Health. The Institute registered 221 recoveries, 5.6 percent less than the previous week (234): Skopje - 159, Prilep - 14, Bitola - 8, Shtip and Kavadarci - 5 each, Kumanovo - 4, Ohrid, Kichevo and Kochani - 3 each, Veles, Gostivar, Strumica, Gevgelija and Resen - 2 each, Kriva Palanka, Delchevo, Berovo, Vinica, Kratovo, Bogdanci and Makedonski Brod - 1 each. No deaths were reported last week (31.10 – 06.11.2022). In the September 14 - October 21 period a total of 8 deaths were reported, 3 from Skopje, Prilep - 2, Bitola - 1, Ohrid - 1 and Shtip - 1. Five were hospital deaths, while three were home deaths. A total of 3.281 tests were performed last week, which is an increase of 12.5 percent compared to the previous week (2.917). The Institute’s virology laboratory examined 42 samples of SARS-CoV-2 from positive cases registered in September and October and detected the BA.5 subvariant of the Omicron variant in all samples. Thus far a total of 2.186.573 Covid-19 tests have been performed in the country. The total number of citizens diagnosed with Covid-19 since the beginning of the epidemic is 344.342, the number of total recoveries is 334.556, there have been 9.572 total deaths, and currently there are 214 active cases. From the beginning of the Covid-19 vaccination on February 17, 2021 and through to November 6, a total of 875.849 people have been vaccinated, in the country or abroad, with at least one dose of the Covid-19 vaccine.
