Skopje, 7 February 2022 (MIA) - The number of people who received the first dose of COVID-19 vaccine is not sufficient, and the fact that the number of those who received the third dose, which offer much greater protection especially for patients with comorbidities, is yet more unsatisfactory, Health Minister Bekim Sali said late on Monday urging the people to get vaccinated as soon as possible to protect themselves. “Our initial analyzes, which are not final, showed that the third dose offers much greater protection. We urge all our citizens, especially those who have comorbidities, to get vaccinated as soon as possible to protect themselves,” Sali told reporters after the handover of donation of 250,000 doses of the Pfizer vaccine from Italy. Asked how much money is being spent on destroying vaccines, as 300,000 vaccines will be destroyed by the end of the month, Sali said it was not a time for financial calculations, but added that destroying a six-dose vaccine vial would cost Mden 0.29. "One vial of six doses of vaccines costs about Mden 0.29. I do not think that a specific policy should be made for the destruction (of vaccines), how important it is for the timely and appropriate vaccination of our people," Sali said.
