Health Minister Filipche sends resignation letter to PM Zaev after Tetovo covid hospital fire
Skopje, 10 September 2021 (MIA) – North Macedonia’s Health Minister Venko Filipche said Friday afternoon he had submitted his resignation letter to Prime Minister Zoran Zaev for moral reasons after the Tetovo modular covid hospital fire.
“A year and a half ago, we registered the first Covid-19 case in our country, I remember that day. We held two press conferences from this same podium. From that day until today, I always stood before the citizens openly and transparently, announcing all news, both good and bad. I was never of criticism, never indebted in response, and I never gave up the battle to fight the pandemic. All the decisions we made had a single goal, which is to protect the health of citizens. The tragedy in Tetovo hit me hard, I am heartbroken for the victims, I sympathize with their families. There are no words that can describe it, nor a way to compensate for the loss. As a doctor and a minister, I have integrity. That is why today, for moral reasons, I submitted a resignation letter to Prime Minister Zoran Zaev,” Filipche told a press conference.
He thanked everyone who believed in him and supported him in his work, responsible tasks and challenges he faced.
“Finally, I would like to especially thank the media representatives for their transparency, commitment and support I received in the most difficult times in the fight against the pandemic,” Filipche added.
