Grubi: Talking to opposition MPs and party leaders over support for constitutional revision
Skopje, 3 September 2022 (MIA) – The constitutional changes must happen because the failure to do this would move Macedonia backwards, into a status quo. The Macedonian community in the country is the biggest winner from the revision, said First Deputy PM Artan Grubi on Saturday. “Let me be clear: the constitutional must happen. The failure to do this would move Macedonia backwards, into a status quo. Everyone who wants a European Macedonia, development, standing shoulder to shoulder with EU members will support the constitutional revision, from which the Macedonian community in the country is the biggest winner, because the move finally makes a distinction between the Macedonian and Bulgarian people. This will complete North Macedonia’s statehood,” Deputy PM Grubi told reporters. According to him, Bulgarians now confirm there is a Macedonian people and a Macedonian language through the constitutional changes. “There is a separate community of Bulgarians in North Macedonia of no more than 3,500 citizens, as the latest Census has shown, and all others are Macedonians speaking the Macedonian language and part of the Macedonian people,’ said Grubi. He expressed belief that the “rising pro-European wing in the parliamentary opposition” would support the constitutional revision and communication has already been established with MPs and party leaders in this regard.
