Grubi says he’s confident parliamentary majority will grow
Skopje, 14 November 2021 (MIA) – The government is stable and the situation is stable. Macedonia is safe and the country’s EU integration is guaranteed, First Deputy Prime Minister Artan Grubi said Sunday. The parliamentary majority and this government have survived, he added. “The chance of the country being approved a date to start negotiating with the EU on Dec. 14 is real,” Grubi, who is also Minister for Political System, told reporters. “I believe the parliamentary majority will grow as well as the number of lawmakers supporting North Macedonia to join Euro-Atlantic organizations. I’m convinced that other lawmakers are due to join the growing parliamentary majority in the coming days,” he stated. Speaking to reporters, he claimed that the party Levica had exerted pressure on lawmakers not to express their will. “DUI has never pressured any member of Parliament and we regret that some political parties have lied to their MPs and put them in a position to damage the European agenda,” Grubi said adding DUI has been in contact with the political parties all but Levica. Reacting to Grubi’s remarks, VMRO-DPMNE in a statement said that the country “is further away from the EU every passing year while the SDSM-DUI government has been in power 5 years.”
