Grubi: Pro-European wing in opposition MPs concerning constitutional changes
Skopje, 1 September 2022 (MIA) – There is a visible pro-European wing in the opposition which will support the constitutional amendments, said First Deputy PM and Minister of Political System and Inter-Community Relations, Artan Grubi on Thursday. “I am an absolute optimist because we have the absolute support of all pro-European forces in the country and abroad regarding the constitutional amendments and regarding the continuation of the European path of our country. You see that nothing happened after the intergovernmental conference was held in Brussels. We still speak Macedonian. Even today I speak Macedonian, we write Macedonian and no one Bulgarianized us, did not assimilate us and it was all fake news and a piece of propaganda, just like the Tirana Platform was fake news, and that all Macedonians will have to learn the Albanian language or Macedonia will divide,” Grubi pointed out. He emphasized that the country is not governed by fear and that the citizens are not governed by instilling everyday fears, but by facing reality. “The reality is that the Macedonian language is official, it will be official in the EU, the agreement with FRONTEX will be signed in Macedonian and our daily contacts with opposition MPs give us optimism they will support this and we are already seeing the development of a pro-European wing in the opposition as well, which makes me very happy because we need an opposition that is Euro-Atlantic-oriented, especially in these challenging times for the country,” stated Deputy PM Grubi. He emphasized that the Government does not hide from the responsibility regarding this process and that it proudly approaches it, but also that he is convinced they will remain at the head of constitutional amendments and that the pro-European forces in the opposition will prevail over the counter-regressive ones, which, according to him, do not want to see the country in the EU. dk/ik/
