"We have the support from the United States, friendly countries, foriegn representatives in our country but also the EU itself, which has continually encouraged us to join," said Grubi.

According to him, efforts are made to bring Europe closer to the citizens, set standards and ensure the citizens' well-being, the Deputy PM's Office said in a press release.

"Back in 2001, our country signed a big treaty that was a success, making the first step with the support of our international friends. The second step was the NATO membership that was also achieved with the encouragement of our European and Western friends. Now we have the third challenge ahead of us, the third step - EU membership. Let's bring Europe closer to our citizens and put a stop to the people leaving the country. Let's create standards and well-being for all citizens," concluded Grubi.
