Gostivar, 16 August 2023 (MIA) – Elections are absolutely not a way out or a solution, the only solution is to start the constitutional amendments that will be supported by all parliamentary parties, First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Political System and Inter-Community Relations Artan Grubi told reporters when asked if there are not over 80 MPs that would support the constitutional amendments, whether the solution would be elections.

“The only solution that is good for you, for us, for all citizens, for our whole country, for our entire region is to start the constitutional amendments. Let us consensually support SDSM, DUI, Alliance, VMRO-DPMNE and all other political parties that are part of our Parliament,” Grubi said in Gostivar on Wednesday at the job fair organized by the Bechtel and Enka consortium, which is to construct Corridors 8 and 10d.

He noted that the constitutional amendments are technical issue and do not interfere at all with the Macedonian identity, the Macedonian language and that, as he emphasized, nobody will see anything bad from the constitutional amendments.

“There was absolutely not a single criticism from either the academic or the political public in our country to the draft-constitutional amendments adopted by the Government and forwarded to the Parliament. Therefore, all the resistance now is for daily-political reasons to inflict holding of an early elections and take power, not to find a solution. Citizens have no time for political calculations,” Grubi said.

Grubi also said that the debate on the constitutional amendments will start on Friday and added that they are working with VMRO-DPMNE and with individuals in VMRO-DPMNE so that, as he pointed out, "they be included in building the future for our citizens."

The Parliament is set to convene the session on the need to adopt constitutional amendments on Friday at 11 am.

According to the Parliament's Rules of Procedures, the plenary session on the need for constitutional amendments can last up to ten days and the decision requires a two-thirds majority.
