Grkovska: Partnership relations in strengthening democratic processes in the country
Skopje, 29 August 2022 (MIA) – Deputy PM for good governance policies Slavica Grkovska participated on Monday in the closing event of USAID’s civic engagement project: “6 Years of USAID’s Civic Engagement Project – Strong Citizens for Accountable Institutions”. Grkovska gave an opening address and was part of a panel discussion on anti-corruption policies and transparency. Grkovska extended gratitude for the continued and firm support as part of USAID’s civic engagement project. The Deputy PM stressed the importance of partnership relations in strengthening democratic processes in the country, related to good governance, integrity, increasing transparency and openness of institutions, digitalization, the Government said in a press release.   “Strengthening integrity is an integral part of the good governance system, which should provide efficient institutions, swift and quality service for citizens. In cooperation with USAID, we organized trainings on the Code of Ethics for 127 officials, appointed this year, as well as integrity tests. The project also made a huge contribution to the process of training individuals who will be further able to hold trainings on the Code of Ethics independently, as well as on integrity, which is aimed towards the policy of creating sustainable systemic solutions,” Grkovska pointed out.   At the conference, also attended by U.S. Ambassador to North Macedonia Kate Marie Byrns, as well as civil society representatives and representatives of the anti-corruption commission, Deputy PM Grkovska stressed that the Government has paid great attention to transparency and accountability of institutions, which are a basic and key requirement for responsible and efficient management, adding that it is precisely why the highest level of transparency has been achieved this year. At the panel discussions organized as part of the closing event, panelists also debated about youth involvement and strengthening the dialogue between citizens and the Government on important social issues in the creation of public policies.
