Grkovska: Gender equality a basic principle of democracy
Skopje, 6 March 2023 (MIA) - When we talk about gender equality, we are talking about the basic principles of democracy, about the right to choose, about freedom of determination and the inclusion of women in all sectors and social processes, Deputy PM for good governance policies Slavica Grkovska told a conference on "Women and Digitalization - breaking barriers, opening opportunities to advance gender equality".

According to the Deputy PM, in such inclusion, we must not witness processes that stagnate, but digitalization should be a process that brings progress in all fields, representing a social, not a political process.

"Digital transformation is not only important for the fulfillment of a government strategic goal to achieve modern and efficient public administration. Digitalization that provides swift and efficient services is directly related to other goals, which are the government's goals, but also goals that are in the interest of our country, economic growth, higher standard, higher quality education, rule of law, transparency and reduction of corruption," said Grkovska.

Minister of Labor and Social Policy Jovanka Trenchevska, Minister of Information Society and Administration Azir Aliu, Skopje Mayor Danela Arsovska, Head of the UN Women Office in North Macedonia Vesna Ivanović-Kastared, and UNDP Resident Representative for North Macedonia Armen Grigoryan are also among the participants to deliver an address at Monday's conference organized by UN Women and UNDP.
