Skopje, 14 June 2022 (MIA) – Deputy Prime Minister in charge of good governance policies Slavica Grkovska met Tuesday in Tallinn with Nele Leosk, Ambassador-at-Large for Digital Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Estonia and discussed deepening mutual cooperation mainly in the part of Estonian experience in the process of digital transformation of the society. The meeting tackled the initiative of Deputy PM Grkovska, which was approved at a government session held in May, regarding the signing of a Memorandum of Cooperation between the Republic of North Macedonia and Estonia that will provide intensive cooperation and communication between the two countries, in the part of the digital transformation of the society for which Estonia is a global leader, the government said in a press release. Deputy PM Grkovska commended the current cooperation, which represents a significant support to the country. She noted that systematic and organized process is crucial in the process of digital transformation, which will enable coordinated approach to all institutions and rational use of all resources. Ambassador Leosk said that Estonia is open to share its own experience in the sphere of digitalisation taking into consideration the fact that the needs of the countries in this area are similar. Two officials agreed to hold a joint online meeting early next month to discuss possible cooperation with the GovStack, a multi-stakeholder initiative led by the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development, Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), Estonia, the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) and the Digital Impact Alliance, whose task is to help governments in other countries ensure a rapid and efficient digital transformation of society. During her two-day working visit to Tallinn, Deputy PM Grkovska also visited the NATO Cooperative Cyber Defence Centre of Excellence, which provides interdisciplinary support to NATO member states, as well as expertise in the field of cyber defence research, training and exercises covering the focus areas of technology, strategy, operations and law. It offers a unique interdisciplinary approach to the most relevant issues in cyber defence with our research, trainings and exercises. While in Tallinn, Deputy PM Grkovska is to take part on Wednesday in the Western Balkan Digital Security Forum along with EU Commissioner for Neighbourhood and Enlargement Olivér Várhelyi, Minister of Entrepreneurship and Information Technology of Estonia Andres Sutt, Minister of Information Society and Administration of North Macedonia Admirim Aliti, as well as leaders and experts of cybersecurity from Western Balkans and the EU.
