Gostivar, 1 August 2023 (MIA) — Deputy Prime Minister for Good Governance Policies Slavica Grkovska had a working meeting with Gostivar Mayor Arben Taravari in Gostivar on Tuesday.

According to an official press release, they discussed joint preparations for upcoming events —  including youth debates in local schools — as part of the "It's Up to You and Me" campaign Deputy Prime Minister Grkovska has been involved in during the past year.

Grkovska and Taravari agreed on the importance of raising young people's awareness of issues related to ethics, integrity and responsibility as a way to overcome flaws in the system, the release says.

They also spoke about transparency as a key anti-corruption mechanism, with Grkovska reviewing the Transparency Guidelines that her team had prepared in cooperation with the Agency for the Protection of the Right to Free Access to Public Information and the Center for Change Management.

She said although the guidelines were binding only for central government institutions, local self-government units should also provide access to all public information and be more open and closer to the public. mr/
