Grkovska – Aggeler: Transparency key for credible and efficient institutions

Skopje, 13 November 2023 (MIA) – Promoting transparency is the key to the solution of many problematic points in the system, because it boosts the credibility of institutions while at the same time protecting real professionals, concluded the Deputy Prime Minister in charge of good governance policies, Slavica Grkovska, and the United States Ambassador to North Macedonia, Angela Aggeler, at a working meeting Monday.
According to a government press release, Grkovska and Aggeler spoke about a set of current topics related to the rule of law and reforms in the country.
To that end, the importance of establishing a strong merit system in the selection of officials and public servants was noted at the meeting.
Deputy PM Grkovska expressed gratitude for the overall assistance provided in the field and noted the importance of the strategic partnership with the United States in terms of the implementation of key reform policies.
Grkovska informed Aggeler about the activities led by her Office, including the proposed legislation which aim to strengthen anti-corruption mechanisms and tools, and ensure that the good governance principles are sustainably embedded into the public sector.
The meeting also discussed the situation in the judiciary and the structural changes necessary in order to overcome the numerous challenges in the field, which determine the success of the joint commitments for progress in the fight against crime and corruption in the country.
