Greece to be strict on North Macedonia's consistent implementation of Prespa Agreement: FM

Athens, 15 May 2024 (MIA) - It is clear that North Macedonia's consistent implementation of the Prespa Agreement is a prerequisite for any outcome on its European path, and we will be strict over its observance, says Greek Foreign Minister Giorgos Gerapetritis, MIA reports from Athens.

FM Gerapetritis told Mega that implementation of the Prespa Agreement is Greece's main request, adding their "extreme dissatisfaction" from the events during the inauguration of the new president of North Macedonia.

"The Greek government has had a very structured plan in supporting the European prospects of all countries in the Western Balkans. Greece was the country that initiated the procedures for integration in the European family. Therefore, we are extremely disappointed with this outcome," says Gerapetritis.

On the parliament's ratification of the three memoranda signed with North Macedonia, the FM says it will happen "once Greece sees full implementation of the Prespa Agreement".

"I cannot understand the opposition's stance, because they are submitting a draft-law for ratification of the memoranda at a time when it is obvious that the other side is unwilling to comply," notes Gerapetritis.
