Greece logs more than 140,000 new SARS-CoV-2 cases, 200 deaths in past 7 days
Athens, 19 July 2022 (MIA) — From July 11 to 17, Greece logged 148,435 new cases of SARS-CoV-2, of which 18 percent were reinfections; 200 people died from the virus, and 115 were put on life support, according to MIA’s Athens correspondent citing the National Public Health Organization’s weekly coronavirus report.
With Greece performing 954,188 tests over the past week, the national COVID-19 positivity rate is 15.56 percent.
The 200 deaths from the coronavirus show an increase of 15 percent compared to the previous week.
During the week, 2,540 patients were admitted to Greek hospitals, 115 of whom into intensive care units, and 2,097 were discharged after recovering from their acute infection.
Since the beginning of the pandemic, 4,210,771 cases of SARS-CoV-2 have been confirmed in Greece, and 30,707 people have died from the virus. mr/
