Gov't, municipalities sign agreements on 274 projects worth 4.1 billion denars

Skopje, 27 October 2024 (MIA) - The Government on Sunday signed agreements with the municipalities on the implementation of 274 projects for capital investments worth 4.1 billion denars. The agreements relate to implementing projects in the area of education, transport, social policy, culture and tourism, environment and sports.

"According to the first call announced by the Ministry of Local Self-Government, today we sign agreements for 274 projects worth about 4.1 billion denars. Today, we are signing the agreements based on six government decisions, divided into six key departments where this money will be invested in the construction of projects," PM Mickoski told a press conference after the signing event.  

Almost 133 million denars are intended for reconstruction, construction and modernization of schools and sports halls, covering the municipalities of Gazi Baba, Bitola, Lipkovo, Bogovinje, Kichevo, etc.  

About two billion and 800 million denars are intended for the implementation of infrastructure projects in the area of ​​transport, covering the municipalities of Berovo, Aerodrom, Bitola, Brvenica, Bogdanci, Bosilovo, Butel, Valandovo, Vevchani, Veles, Vrapchishte, Gazi Baba, Gevgelija, Gostivar, Gradsko, Debar, Delchevo, Demir Kapija, Debarca, Demir Hisar, Dojran, Dolneni, Gjorche Petrov, Zhelino, Zelenikovo, Zrnovci, Ilinden, Jegunovce, Kavadarci, Karposh, Karbinci, Kriva Palanka, Krushevo, Mavrovo, Rostushe, etc. The projects include investments in local road network, roadways, paths, streets, etc. 

About 59 million denars will be invested in the area of ​​social policy, to be used for the construction of new preschools in Petrovec and Gazi Baba.

In the area of ​​sports, agreements in the amount of 220 million denars were signed for the construction of sports centres, recreational parks and sports halls in the municipalities of Vevchani, Demir Hisar, Centar, Bitola, Kavadarci, Chashka, etc.  

In terms of the implementation of cultural and tourism projects, close to 200 million denars have been earmarked for the municipalities of Gevgelija, Pehchevo, Radovish, Gazi Baba.

Agreements were also signed for environmental and spatial planning projects, regarding which close to 630 million denars will be invested. This decision covers the municipalities of Vasilevo, Berovo, Shuto Orizari, Pehchevo, Probishtip, Tetovo, Butel, Mogila, Delchevo, Vrapchishta, Lipkovo, Kisela Voda, Chair, Arachinovo, Ohrid, Rosoman, Chucher Sandevo, etc. 

According to PM Mickoski, this is the key promise to citizens and proof of the work on infrastructure investments and direct support of thousands of citizens.

He appealed to the municipalities to develop quality projects and, he noted, they will be implemented.

In response to a reporter's question, he mentioned four municipalities that have not received any approved project because they were late with the document submission. The deadline to submit the documentation has been extended until November 15 for those municipalities.

Regarding next year, he noted, projects of 15 billion denars will be financed, which will reach a figure of 21 billion denars.
