Gov’t decides to set up advisory body on use of names of historical figures
Skopje, 6 September 2022 (MIA) – North Macedonia’s Government at its Tuesday’s session decided to form an advisory body to give opinion on the use of historical and other figures in the names of associations and other legal entities.   Prior to this the Government adopted a report on the need to form an interdepartmental ad hoc body as a temporary solution until the new Law on Associations and Foundations is adopted, the Government said in a press release.   It adds that this is a temporary solution for requests submitted by associations and all legal entities whose names include a historical figure’s name. The body will give opinions and respond to requests for forming associations in order to reduce the potential for abusing controversial historical figures’ names, reads the press release.   According to the Government, the advisory body has seven members appointed by the institutions and could additionally include, if necessary, representatives of the civil society and competent institutions.
