Gov’t approves intervention agricultural program in 2024

Skopje, 13 February 2024 (MIA) - Upon the proposal by the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, and Water Economy, the Government has approved the intervention agricultural program for this year during Tuesday’s session. This program includes the implementation of two measures aimed at assisting farmers.

The first measure is financial support for sunflower delivered to registered purchasing facilities either directly or through a designated buyer, where agricultural farms will receive assistance of Mden 5 per delivered sunflower to registered purchasers, the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, and Water Economy said.

The second measure focuses on providing financial aid to wine grape producers who have purchased grapes and those produced from their own vineyards. This assistance is exclusively available to registered wine producers who also operate as authorized purchasers of wine grapes.

Under the measure, producers who process grapes in their own facilities are eligible for support amounting to Mden 1 per kilogram of purchased wine grapes, including those harvested from their own vineyards in 2023. The maximum subsidy per beneficiary for this initiative is set at Mden 6,000,000.

“Further financial support measures for livestock farming during the year will be implemented. These measures will focus on areas requiring intervention to minimize losses experienced by agricultural enterprises,” reads the press release.
