Gov’t approves Hungarian loan’s second tranche for Eurobond repayment

Gov’t approves Hungarian loan’s second tranche for Eurobond repayment

Skopje, 10 December 2024 (MIA) - Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski revealed Tuesday evening that the government has approved the second tranche of the Hungarian loan, worth 500 million euros, during today’s session.

PM Mickoski said that the approved funds will become operational starting next year. These resources are designated for repaying the Eurobond issued by the previous government.

"These funds are necessary because the Eurobond issued by the previous government in 2018 is set to mature on January 25. By addressing this, we will settle the debt, ensuring that no future government will be burdened with the obligation to repay this Eurobond," Mickoski stated during tonight’s open debate on Macedonian Radio Television.

The first tranche of the loan, amounting to 500 million euros, is intended for support to companies and local self-governments.
