Gov’t approved ESM-BEG cooperation agreement
Skopje, 20 January 2022 (MIA) – The government at Thursday’s session approved the agreement on business and technical cooperation that regulates the rights to the production of heating energy between the companies Balkan Energy Group (BEG) and Power Plants of North Macedonia (ESM).
Under the agreement, ESM will take over staring January 21 to manage BEG’s supply, distribution and production in order to secure continuous heating supply for the citizens of the capital Skopje.
The government also approved a decision to provide additional heating amid a state of crisis in heating energy distribution, it said in a press release. Under the decision, additional heating energy will be provided through domestic production.
The government said it also approved financing estimated at 615 million denars to ESM in its efforts to address the state of crisis involving heating distribution.
