Skopje, 13 June 2023 (MIA) - The Government on Tuesday adopted the Roadmap for a Just Transition in the Republic of North Macedonia. 

The Government's decision is aimed towards launching activities that will enable proper alignment of the country and the regions dependent on coal, to the new EU policies for accelerated green growth and transition, the Government said in a press release.

The Roadmap for a Just Transition includes finding alternatives to conventional energy sources (energy transition) and finding alternatives to employ people, particularly those working in the energy sector. An effective transition to renewable sources and storage will be a necessary condition to be able to move to suitable new "green" jobs.

The Government has tasked the Economy Minister through the Secretariat for European Affairs to inform the European Commission and all international financial institutions about the adopted Roadmap and about starting the process of establishing a Just Transition Structure.
